12TH MARCH 2012: NEW HOLLY GOLIGHTLY & THE BROKEOFFS ALBUM![]() A new 10 track album, Long Distance, is out now. Here's Holly talking about her reasons for making this album… ”After many requests to incorporate the best of the solo Holly Golightly songs into the live set, with top-notch backing provided by The Brokeoffs, I have picked some of my original band favourites and recorded this collection for old and new fans alike. The highlight for me was the chance to re-record '(You Ain't) No Big Thing,' the fantastic 1966 Sam and Dave classic that I first started performing live in 1995. It's one of my all time top tunes, along with 'My Love Is,' the fabulous Little Willie John number, which we've given a wistful lone banjo accompaniment this time around. There is an even mix of cover songs and originals to revisit, all of them corkers in their own right and all of them especially dear to me. 'Long Distance' is collection of my good-time-foot-tappers and sing-along-tear-jerkers. It's my top ten tracks prepared from scratch and served up fresh.” Available from Damaged Goods. |

NEW US LIVE DATES: POSTED 7TH MAY 2010: |
||||
NEW ALBUM OUT 29TH MARCH (UK/EU) & 30TH MARCH (US): ‘Medicine County’ was written and recorded on a farmhouse just outside Athens in Georgia and as Holly says it’s “peppier” than the last album, in fact there’s only one slow song on the whole album which is probably down to the fact that this time they had a lot longer to work on the songs and recording, their last album was recorded in the middle of a very long European tour over a week or two in Spain. So what does it sound like? Choc-full of ghostly blues, gut-bucket slide guitar, with a smattering of ol’ time country. This is just the disc for conjuring up the spirit of weird old America. Anyone with an interest or liking for the music of The Band, Son House, or Hank Williams, sung by Nancy and Lee, should certainly check it out! Holly’s mum painted the cover, which adds to the warm home-spun appeal. 12 brand new songs including a cover of Wreckless Eric’s ‘Murder In My Mind’ and a guest appearance by Tom Heinl on ‘Blood On The Saddle’ (Tom wrote Holly’s Christmas track ‘Christmas Tree On Fire’) Tracklisting: 1. Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs - Forget It |

HOLLY GOLIGHTY & THE BROKEOFFS - NEW SPLIT 7": POSTED 11TH JULY 2007
Here’s what Holly & Dave had to say about their recordings for this single “Holly says to an inebriated Lawyer Dave, "Right, we've got to record two songs for The Lawyer tried his best to develop the film in his mind with the contaminated "Alrighty then." saith Dave, "Let's git to it." After a brief reintroduction to the "Well then, that was an adventure." Holly and Dave said in unison. And then there The STRATFORD SPARROWS are from Portland, Oregon, started in June of 2006. The Rev. Joe alighted there from San Francisco. After making it though the many trials of life in the City of Roses, he began hearing the sounds of harmony vocals, clean Telecasters, and reverb. He obtained a recording He met the fair Miss Bryna in Japanese class and asked her to put her sweet voice to good use. She said yes and the hit making commenced. Taking inspiration from classic country music, the mighty Willamette River, and the 100 year old building that houses them, the Stratford Sparrows made music all summer long. Rev. Joe called on his friend Holly and a record was born. This is a very special release for all of us here at Damaged Goods and we hope you enjoy it as much as we are right now.
