Early-ish in 2008 I picked up a camera or two and started taking photos.

One of those cameras was a traditional film SLR. Quite a novelty in these digital days to actually shoot on film plus pretty decent film based camera are now cheap as chips as everybody's jumped on digital.

These are some of the first photos I took, developed and hand printed. There's something quite magical that happens in dark rooms and you feel like you're in a film as that's the only place I'd seen them before.

Plus, the extra effort makes you more selective about what you photograph and print, rather than holding down burst on your digital camera until the memory card is full.

The row of photos is thee old Billy Childish performing with his Musicians of The British Empire at Barden's Boudoir in Stoke Newington, UK.
