Inspired by vintage twenties, thirties and forties style, costume and fashion, my work incorporates elements of, burlesque, art nouveau, art deco, the demimonde and Victoriana.

I have an absolute passion for antique clothing, antique costume, circus, vaudeville, retro fashion, forties, the history of theatre, turn of the century styles and flapper fashion, all of which I have studied for many years and which I incorporate into my design.

Some of the things I like: suave men, decadence, dressing up, swapping lipstck, romance, singing, music, arty stuff, ice-cream, Victorian-50's underworlds, Demi-monde, Victorian ironwork, castles, get jitters when I go in good vintage stores, alt-theatrical, stripper and stage costume, history of costume, female form, frenzied behavior scenarios, antiques, old architecture, moggies, dolls, old movies, tarnished glamour, sparkles 'n' tassels

Some of the services I offer include:

Costumier: costume and outfit design for theatrical, film, tv, stage, photographic, pop promo and promotional video work.
I offer custom made couture clothing and accessories inspired by 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and Victorian period styles for art projects cabaret and club performance.

As well as my custom dressmaking, a selection of dresses, corsets and accessories are available in my online shop (wholesale available, please email me for more details).

I also offer an art direction, and styling service, including hair, makeup, photography, artwork and graphic design.

People often ask me what is it I do? It's taken me a while to work out how best to answer
that question but now I know.....I tell them with a smile that I am an imaginative artisan!

Amongst other things I make costume, often do my own photography, put the life and soul
back into graphic work... basically I relish decorative art and in beautifying things in my
own particular way.

I looked up the word imagination and here's what it said: inspired, inventive, resourceful,
unorthodox, unconventional, fanciful, whimsical and fantastical!

I use the word artisan because alongside using modern day new fangled digital technology
I also do things in the real world such as pattern cutting, dress making, drawing and painting...
I love good old fashioned craftsmanship.

So, on this site you will find:
. Costume work plus clothing for sale in the Zoe Lloyd online boutique
. Graphics and illustrative work
. Art direction, styling and photography

Often all mixed up together in the giant melting pot that is me!

A bit about me: I left the North of England at nineteen to study graphics and photography
at St Martins in London and in Paris at L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.

My long-term fascination for vintage and antique clothing, costume and accessories, which I have
collected and studied (and enjoyed dressing up in!) for as long as I can remember, inspired me
to learn pattern cutting and corsetry which I did at length. I constantly draw inspiration from my
collection and this passion naturally led to establishing the costume/clothing side of Zoe Lloyd.

I specialize in period inspired design, vintage and antique silhouettes and stage
costume, incorporating historical detail and intricate embellishments.

In 2003 I brought all my skills together under one roof and launched Zoe Lloyd
(formerly Hussy) and this site is a selection of the main body of work I've done so far.
